Houston-based sibling country duo Maddy & Colton return September 8, 2026 with The Start — their sophomore single and the first original song written entirely by the pair themselves.

The follow-up to their faith-driven debut He Rose, which introduced the duo's harmony-driven sound to a growing national audience, the new release showcases a different side of their songwriting: an emotionally charged look at the unraveling of a relationship.

Written by siblings Maddy Grace Bowman and Colton James Bowman, The Start tells the story of recognizing the beginning of the end — that moment when two people realize things are changing and the future they once imagined together may no longer be possible. Through heartfelt lyrics, honest storytelling and powerful sibling harmonies, the song captures the uncertainty, reflection and heartbreak that often come before the final goodbye.

Blending contemporary country themes with rich harmonies and authentic storytelling, The Start builds on a breakout year that has included a main stage performance at FIFA Fan Fest Houston and dual nominations at the 12th Annual Josie Music Awards for Country Duo of the Year and Song of the Year.
