When we stepped onto the stage at the Texas Youth Music Festival’s Battle of the Bands in Austin, we honestly didn’t know what to expect. We had poured so much of ourselves into writing “The Start”, and this performance felt like the moment we finally handed the song over to the world. Knowing it was an original piece made the experience even more meaningful, and getting to share it live in a room full of other young artists and music lovers was something we’ll never forget.
Performing it together—just our voices, our instruments, and the energy of the crowd—reminded us why we make music in the first place. There were no backing tracks, no safety nets, just the two of us telling a story the way we wrote it. That kind of honesty is both terrifying and exciting, but standing there under the lights in Austin, it felt right.
“The Start” will always hold a special place for us, not just because it’s one of the first originals we shared publicly, but because this festival gave it its first big stage. Seeing people connect with it in real time—people who had never heard us before—was one of the coolest moments of our journey so far.
